Construction Parade in support of CHEO & Roger Neilson House

NCHCA has partnered with OCA for a construction equipment parade on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00am. We look forward to bringing smiles to the faces of children and their families in palliative care at CHEO and Roger Neilson House.

We are calling on our members to support this event by featuring their equipment in the parade and making a donation to CHEO. Please note that a donation is not required to participate in the parade.

A staging area and parade route have been planned to make it easy for equipment to drive through and for families to watch from the windows of the hospital, Rotel, Ronald McDonald House, and Roger Neilson House, and from the sidewalks along Ring Road.

To register your equipment and join the parade, please email Kathryn Sutherland at ksutherland@nchca.ca.

To make a donation and help us to meet our goal of $150, 000 we encourage you, your colleagues and your company to make a donation of any amount and help us to show that the Construction Community Cares!

Learn more about Roger Neilson House, The Otto Family, Ways to Give and how your donation will help. We thank you for your generosity!

Many NCHCA members will know that the history of building Roger’s House as there was a tremendous charitable commitment of labour, materials and money from around a hundred local construction firms. The effort was led by Roly Hein, CEO of RE Hein Construction who charmed and cajoled firms to help out to the tune of $2 million dollars. Roly unfortunately passed away too young at age 67 in 2013.

In 2006, the OCA featured an article on the opening of Roger’s House. The article identifies the construction team which included Chad Shella, Victor Deveau, Johannes Ziebarth, Glen Morley, Eugene Melnyk, Ken Hoppner Roly Hein, Richard Gratton as well as the hundreds of firms who made a contribution.
